The MAB ME Series absolute output encoder is an extension module designed specifically for MD Series controllers. It supports both on-axis and off-axis configurations. In the on-axis setup, the encoder can function as the main motor encoder or be placed on the output shaft to track its position. The off-axis configuration is particularly useful for determining the position of the output shaft in geared actuators after startup.
19x12x6 mm
Resolution: 14-bit
Accuracy: >0.1° (on-axis) or >1° (off-axis)
Operation modes: Startup, Motion, Report, Main
On-axis or off-axis configuration, dedicated magnet included in the set
On-axis solution where we use a diametrically magnetized barrel magnet is perfect for robotic actuators.
-
Usually, mounted directly on the axis of rotation, for example on the actuator's gearbox output or on the joint.
-
Simpler mechanical design.
-
Used in precision scenarios such as industrial robots, robotic arms, humanoids, etc.
Off-axis solution where we use a ring magnet is designed to determine the output shaft of a geared actuator after startup or position measurements in hollow-shaft systems.
-
Good for applications with limited axial space or complex mechanical layouts.
-
Cost-effective solution.
-
Commonly used in robotic grippers, and compact or geared actuators.
